Melissa Sedillo, Assistant Principal

I am honored to join the Monrovia Elementary School family as the new Assistant Principal. My name is Melissa Sedillo, and I am excited to contribute to our school community. I earned my undergraduate degree in Elementary Education from Fairmont State University in Fairmont, West Virginia. After marrying my husband, a USMC veteran, I moved with him to sunny San Diego, California, where we welcomed our three children. I later returned to school to complete my Master's Degree in Educational Leadership at San Diego State University before relocating to Alabama for my husband’s job.

For the past 10 years, I have worked in the classroom, with the last 4 years spent in Athens City Schools. Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of serving in various roles, including Grant Administrator, Lead After School Teacher, Instructional Leadership Team Member, and School Site Council Chairman.

As the new Assistant Principal, my goal is to cultivate a supportive and collaborative learning environment for both students and staff. I am eager to begin this new chapter and look forward to the exciting opportunities ahead
